The Macallan unveils novel pack for 71-year-old single malt
Tales of The Macallan Volume I is the first instalment in a new series from Scotch whisky maker The Macallan. For the packaging, the brand teamed up with crystal specialists and London-based bookbinders.
The whisky is housed in a handcrafted crystal decanter engraved with an illustration from British artist and illustrator, Andrew Davidson, known for his wood engravings.
According to Davidson, “For the decanter, the technical challenge with hot glass lies in the printing of the captivating and detailed illustrations, in order to have a sharp impression on a small surface”.
The secondary packaging consists of an eight-hundred-page almanac which conceals the decanter within its pages thanks to cut outs shaped to the botte and stopper.
