Design Case Study | Faze Design Studio’s packaging design for Ethereal captures natures healing properties

Faze Design Studio has designed packaging for Ethereal Cosmetics. The aim was to create packaging that would reflect the perfect balance between natures healing properties and the surreal element. Find out how this was achieved in our exclusive design case study below.

Tell us a bit about the brand – its heritage, its story, and its markets – and the brief for this project. How does the design express the brand’s values?

Ethereal is a new series of body care products that combines skin treatment with a unique experience of perfumes and sensations.

The birth of the brand began from Sandalista, a Greek handmade sandal company with an innate love for skin and feet care. After six years of operation and gaining recognition from their audience, they went one step further and started giving their clients a handmade cream as a gift. Based on this idea, they entered the world of cosmetics and care products.

How does the design express the brand’s values? What inspired the design?

The name comes from the Greek word ‘Ether’ which means ‘air’ and is defined as delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world. The brand offers a series of products that promise to be much more than a nice scent.

What inspired the design was to combine the wonderful fragrances of nature, with the treatment and restoration of the skin taking the science of Dermo cosmetics to another level.

What is innovative or unusual about the pack?

Faze wanted to make the products look premium but not intimidating and have a distinctive family differentiation yet look and feel like they are all under the same brand.

Thus, they created a series of packaging with minimal look and feel that uses colour coding to differentiate the products between each of the series. The pastel colours are in sync with the mesmerising scent of each product, based on several essential oils and fruits.

The holographic foil printed mandala is the main element of the packaging, connecting the healing properties of nature with the brand’s storytelling.

What reactions have you had from consumers?

According to Faze, “Overall, the feedback from the consumers was very encouraging, with many positive reviews and social media reposting regarding the packaging and product quality. The company was also informed from the client that their sales were boosted and continue to rise, as brand awareness is also increasing over time”.
